PARTIAL VS. FULL DENTURES
Dentures are a removable replacement for missing teeth, made of either acrylic resin or a combination of metal and ceramic material. While a complete denture replaces all of your teeth on one arch, a partial denture usually replaces approximately three teeth. Whether you are recommended a partial or full denture will purely depend if you have any existing healthy teeth. If you require extraction of your remaining teeth (because they are beyond repair) then you may be recommended a full denture as a solution.
REPLACING MISSING TEETH: YOUR FACIAL FEATURES WILL THANK YOU
Not replacing missing teeth can have a number of negative effects on your oral health. Failing to replace missing teeth can lead to teeth shifting, an inability to bite and chew properly, as well as significant changes in the structure of your jaw and facial features.
Properly fitted dentures can fill in the space left by missing teeth, which means that your soft facial tissues will also sit as they did when you had natural, healthy teeth. Without filling in the void, your jaw bone could begin to recede which can give you the appearance of an underbite or ‘weak jaw’ that may appear narrow depending on the location of your missing teeth.
WE HAVE SPENT 12 YEARS CREATING DENTURES FOR OUR PATIENTS
Dentures take approximately two weeks to fabricate from the first impression to the final fitting. During your first appointment with our experienced dentists, an impression of your smile will be taken. If you are receiving full dentures, the soft tissues will still need an impression so your dentures fit with your mouth shape and bite pattern.
Our dentists will utilise over 12 years of experience to create a denture that looks natural and restores or even improves the appearance of your facial features and smile. If you are receiving full dentures you can even go whiter than your original natural teeth, while still looking natural and beautiful.
After we’ve created your denture, you will visit us for a fitting appointment so that any final adjustments can be made. Due to the accuracy of our impressions, the need for further adjustments is rare.
